Retrieval of WKRC belongings from Wollongong City Raceway.

The issues with the retrieval of our club property from Wollongong City Raceway are continuing.

Update: The issue of retrieving our equipment is still on ongoing issue with further demands being put in place before we can have OUR equipment returned. Some of which was conveniently used fore the running of their race meeting last Saturday night 29th Nov.

Further Update:15 of our Club members attended the track on Tuesday evening the 2nd December to collect OUR gear. We informed the management of the track that we would be there and at the times stipulated by them. The club members were once again denied access to OUR gear.

We will continue to keep you updated as to when we can retrieve the clubs equipment from the track.

The issue goes on.

2009 season

Talks are progressing well with Sydney to join them for the 2009 season.

The preliminary calendar is out and it looks great.

Not only will there be plenty of racing but the track has been booked for a number of Saturday practice days.

With no hire karts on those practice days you will get heaps of time on the track and excellent value for money.

Also included in next years calendar is a day dedicated to the Wollongong club to run their own titles.

With Oran park being the venue for the 2009 State Tittles it is going to be a big year.

Stay posted to the web site and as information becomes available we will post it on the web.

Bring it on

Final round Oran Park

What a fantastic meeting yesterday at Oran park.
212 competitors turned up for the final round of the club championships.
With 17 classes run we were all done by 5:00.
Most of the Wollongong members attended the race meeting with many commenting how fantastic it was.
The Wollongong club would like to thank Sydney for allowing us to join them for the day. Well organised, well run and what a fantastic track.

If yesterday is anything to go by bring on 2009

Important announcement

The Wollongong Kart Racing Club Committee would like to inform its members and fellow karters that it will no longer be conducting kart race meetings at the Wollongong City Raceway.

The club was officially notified today, 20th October 2008, that it is no longer able to hire the Wollongong City Raceway to conduct its race meetings, effective immediately. This year’s racing calendar was finalised over twelve months ago, and we were in the process of finalising negotiations for 2009. The committee had no reason to believe there would any changes to the 2008 calendar.

The committee is both bewildered and frustrated by this decision and has been informed by Wollongong City Raceway management that no correspondence will be entered into regarding this matter.

We understand that this will be disappointing, and difficult to accept for our valued club members. The committee is exhausting all avenues to enable this year to be completed as planned. We will endeavour to keep you well informed via email and the web site ( www.wkrc.com.au ), and would appreciate you assisting us in circulating this information to those without access to the web.

Where does this leave us as a club?

The committee is holding an extra ordinary meeting for all members on Wednesday 29th October, 2008 at 6.30pm, venue to be confirmed.

Agenda items will include:

1. The completion of the 2008 season.

2. Our options as a club

3. The future direction of the club

Is this the end for Wollongong Kart Racing Club? NO.

The goal of the Wollongong Kart Racing Club is to have club members come along and enjoy a professionally run race meeting in a friendly and safe environment, which we will endeavour to continue.

The club presentation evening will go ahead as planned on the 28th November at Kembla Grange Golf Club Function Room (more details on www.wkrc.com.au ).

The Club would like to thank the AKA for their assistance at this time and their advice as  we move forward, and move forward we will.

The club would like to stress that this is a decision that has been made by the senior management of the track. The club would like its members to refrain from taking out their frustration or discussing this issue with the employees of Wollongong City Raceway.

NB:  Details of the final round of the club championship will be made available as soon as they are finalised. Thank you for your understanding and patience with regards to this matter

 Scrutineering on race days

To speed up the process of scrutineering on our race days could all competitors please ensure that all their  scrutineering forms are fully filled out and signed. this would greatly speed up the process of scrutineering and avoid you having to go to the rear of the line and start again. It is also a requirement that you bring your helmet to scrutineering.

Driver profile page

Club Polo shirts

The club is offering for sale polo shirts with the club logo on them. These shirts will be on display and can be ordered at our race meetings. Payment for the shirts will be required with your order. Contacting the club by email

If you are sending the club an email could you please make it clear in your "Subject" section that it is to do with karting. We are getting about 60-100 spam emails a day so it is hard to pick the genuine ones from the spam.
